When you buy spirits, beer, champagne or soft drinks from a bonded warehouse, the customs status of the goods decides which documents travel with the truck. This short guide explains the terms you will see in our offers. It is general information: your customs agent always confirms the right procedure for your shipment.
e-AD: moving excise goods under duty suspension
Alcoholic drinks are excise goods. When they move inside the EU without excise being paid, they travel with an electronic administrative document (e-AD) in the EU's EMCS system, from one authorised warehouse to another authorised consignee.
T1 and T2: transit documents
A T1 transit document covers goods that do not have EU customs status while they move under customs control, for example towards an exit point for export. A T2 is used for EU goods that pass through a country in the common transit area outside the EU, so they keep their EU status on arrival.
Duty paid
If the goods stay in the country where duties are paid, they can also be released duty paid. The customs status is always fixed in our pro forma invoice before you pay.
What we provide
Commercial invoice, packing list, e-AD or T1 as applicable, and a certificate of origin on request.
